MARCH 2000

March 26The Commission's Baltimore City offices were closed Tuesday March 21 and Wednesday March 23 due to a building systems emergency that required the entire location to be cleared.  No hearings were conducted, there was no telephone service available.  The offices were closed most of the day Thursday March 23, but Baltimore City hearings were conducted offsite at an adjacent location.  Hearings that were affected by the closings will be promptly rescheduled for the earliest available docket.  Notices of the situation and the relocation of Thursday's hearings were posted here on the entry page and on the Commission's Inclement Weather telephone message, as is the practice to keep the Workers' Compensation community and the Commission's customers informed of any and all such emergencies.  The Commission administration and staff would like to thank everyone for their support and consideration during this difficult time.

March 17

Requests for "Travel Along" files (as opposed to "Set With" requests) will no longer be honored.  It will be the responsibility of that party to have a copy of the relevant documents from any other file at the hearing.  "Set With" requests are only to be made when there is an issue to be heard in the "set With" file which may overlap with the originally set claim.

REMINDER! - Section 9-728 requires benefits to be paid within 15 days of the order.  If the Employer/Insurer fails to do so penalties may be assessed.  Any party feeling aggrieved by late payment should request a hearing.
