The Workers' Compensation Commission and State offices are closed Monday, February 20, 2006 in observance of Presidents' Day.  No telephone or email/websupport is available. We will open for business Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at 8 a.m.

February 13

Change in procedure: Objection to Subpoena for Medical Records- When an objection to a subpoena for the release of medical records is filed by a claimant, the Commission will put the case in line to be set for a hearing on an emergency basis on the issue of relevancy.
The claim will not move forward for hearing on any other issue until the Commissioner has heard and ruled on the objection issue.  This change is noted and available via the MD WCC Subpoena Instructions, Policies/Procedures document posted to our Forms & Instructions page (link).

February 7

The Maryland Workers' Compensation Commission amended regulations, to be incorporated by reference, to COMAR 14.09.03.01 (to regulate medical and surgical fees) on an emergency basis.  The amended regulations are effective February 1, 2006 and expire August 1, 2006.

The regulations will publish in the  March 3, 2006 edition of the Maryland Register.  Text of regulation amendments may be viewed on the Medical Fee Guide: Regulations & Information page. (link)
